Job Market on the Rise for Senior Employees in 2011

Good news for job seekers all around – the job recession looks to be finally rising from the depths of carnage and wreckage it left us in back in 2008 and is staring at the sun with purpose and promise of a greater job market future. In fact, the National Association of Colleges and Employers recently conducted their job outlook 2011 fall survey and found a positive trend in hiring trends.

To be more specific, the survey found that 2011 graduates might have the chance to find some industries that are expected to hire more. What does that mean? Senior employment will also increase with the onslaught of new hiring. It also gives incentive for seniors to think about returning to school, maybe in an online university, to get a bachelors degree.

The survey also found which majors employers and job areas are gravitating towards. The following were considered the most widely looked for by employers in 2011:

  1. Business
  2. Computer Science
  3. Engineering

These popular majors are followed by accounting and finance. In fact, according to the NACE survey, 62% of employers plan on hiring new accounting professionals this year. This means that even if you are looking for part-time senior employment you will have a higher chance of finding something in accounting or finance than you did last year.
